Dear colleagues,
We are very happy to inform you that as the first of his kind in Denmark, Niels Christian Hvidt has now been appointed Professor of Spiritual Care. Partly financed by the University and partly by the Danish Cancer Society, the emphasis of the professorship is on cancer and related existential, spiritual and religious issues, needs and struggles. That the University and the Danish Cancer Society find it relevant to establish a professorship in this field is quite an acknowledgement of our field of research; also, it points to a tendency in the Danish health care system to recognize that not only biomedical but also psychosocial and existential needs and issues are important aspects of human health.
